UCLA-GRADUATE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION
The mission of GENTE is to provide a network and resource group that
enhances and promotes the professional development, academic, intellectual, social,
and cultural needs of current and future Latina(o)/Chicana(o) graduate students and faculty within the UCLA Gradute School of Education,
and the greater UCLA communtty. Our objectives include increasing the
representation of Latina(o)/Chicana(o) faculty and demanding research that
is representative of and relevant to the Latina(o)/Chicana(o) community.
Goals and Objectives
1. Increase Gente size and representation.
2. Provide information on Gente to prospective members and others.
3. Provide advocacy for Latina(o)s/Chicana(o)s.
4. Provide academic and social support.
5. Obtain access to school and divisional administrative structure in order to
actively participate in increasing the representation of Latina(o)/Chicana(o)
faculty and demand research that is representative of and relevant to the
Latina(o)/Chicana(o) community.
6. Increase the placement of Latina(o)s/Chicana(o)s in advanced degrees.
7. Develop a strong network with the greater UCLA campus.
