Research: I am a writer by avocation. I am employed by the State Government of California and am currently the President of the Board of Trustees of La Raza/Galeria Posada (popularly known as La Raza Bookstore) in Sacramento. I am struggling to get my stories and poems published. I would love to communicate with any and all with an interest in Mexican Colonial history, the history of Laredo, Texas, the Mexican circus, Chicano literature, etymology, photography, and genealogy.

Publications: My short story "El Indio Triste" won the third-place prize for prose in the Thirteenth Annual Chicano Literary Contest sponsored by U.C. Irvine. Two of my stories, "The Cardinal Virtues of Demetrio Huerta" and "Photosynthesis", were published in The Americas Review, the former being chosen for the 20th anniversary anthology of said review. I am also working on a translation of "Tello Mantecon en la Cultura Popular", a series of interviews given by my uncle in which he recounts his life as an entertainer with El Circo Mantecon, in the tandas de Monterrey, and in television.

Other: I was born in Laredo, Texas in 1948. I am a graduate of California State University, Sacramento where I obtained a B.A. in philosophy and attended graduate school at the University of California at Davis where I was awarded an M.A. in philosophy.
