Founding and Mission

The Arizona Board of Regents approved the establishment of the Hispanic Research Center (HRC) at Arizona State University on March 1, 1985. As an interdisciplinary research unit reporting to the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the HRC was disigned as a university wide center whose main purpose is:

Research Foci

Four main research foci have been identified fot the HRC. These are:

These foci were selected because of their centrality to the Hispanic Community and the relative lack of emphasis that these subjects have received in the past. The HRC also was designed to complement the main interests and strengths of similar centers already operating at other institutions. Qualified researchers are encouraged to colaborate with the HRC to develop specific lines of inquiry under these four general areas.
